About Vertical Chimney Care

Meet Mark Ocean

Vertical Chimney Care is led by its owner and founder, Mark Ocean. Born and raised in northern Illinois, Mark has spent 31 years on roofs and at hearths across the region — sweeping flues, diagnosing leaks, rebuilding masonry, and keeping families safe through one Illinois winter after another. At 56, he still runs the company the way he always has: show up when you say you will, tell the homeowner the truth, and do the job right the first time.

That approach has a track record. Vertical Chimney Care was recognized as Best Chimney Sweep Company in the Midwest in 2016 — but Mark will tell you the recognition that matters most is the kind that comes from a neighbor passing your name to a friend. This business was built, and still grows, through family, friends, and neighbors who trust the work.

What You Can Count On

• Honest communication. We explain what we find in plain language and show you the evidence.
• Transparency. You’ll always know what we recommend, why, and what it costs before we begin.
• We work to NFPA 211. The national standard for chimneys guides how we inspect and service every system.
• Insured & bonded. You’re protected, and we’re glad to confirm our coverage before we start.
• Seven days a week. We’re available 7:00 AM to 9:30 PM, every day, because chimney problems don’t keep business hours.

As the top local service provider for chimney care in McHenry County, we’re proud to serve our neighbors across McHenry, Crystal Lake, Woodstock, and the surrounding towns. Ready to talk? Explore our services or call us directly.
